CNC Plasma Cutting
CNC Plasma Cutting
One of our most advanced pieces of equipment we use utilize at Short Iron Store is the CNC plasma cutter. The CNC, or “Computer Numerical Control” plasma cutter works with a computer numerical control to cut through electrically conductive materials. It employs an accelerated jet of hot plasma which is directed at the material in order make the perfect cut. Although the machine is a complex piece of technology, it works quite simply. The CNC reads the computer’s cue and then produces a signal to the machine’s drive system. The drive system consequently maneuvers the torch into the desired direction at the programmed speed on the registered path. While the cut is being made, the CNC and drive system work simultaneously together, calibrating and revising position information every couple of milliseconds. This ensures the cut parts are straight, smooth, and consistent throughout. Overall, as a result of a computer giving the machine direction and not being cut free handed, the metal cut will be exact and obtain the perfect edge quality.
We enjoy the versatility the CNC plasma cutter has to offer. At Short Iron Store, we are able to use the CNC plasma cutter for cutting any conductive materials like steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. It can also be used for industrial construction projects, metal design and support, metal art, and custom metal fabrication. In addition to being convenient for a wide variety of projects, the CNC plasma cutter is time efficient, compatible with a range of metals, and produces a high quality end product.
Hypotherm Powermax 65
At Short Iron Store, we mainly use the Hypotherm Powermax65 CNC plasma cutter for our light cutting processes. It’s designed specifically to maximize productivity and uptime, allowing your projects to be completed in a short amount of time. The Powermax65 includes the latest technological innovations like Smart Sense™, which automatically adjusts the gas pressure and a patented shield that reduces dross buildup. In addition, it can accommodate for a variety of torch styles, which allows our operators to select the exact tool to be used to effectively complete your project.
We understand that you have many options to choose from for your CNC Plasma Cutting. However, most plasma cutting companies out there outsource their plasma cutting work to another state or country. Often, they make you wait for this outsourced company to decide if they can quote and complete your project. It can take days or even weeks to hear back. But at Short Iron Store, our operating staff is located at our actual shop, where the cutting is completed. Many times, we have the ability to bring your idea or work to life in a few minutes or hours. This allows you to achieve a faster result and have direct communication with the people completing your project. Overall, our one-on-one approach keeps you in the front seat and in the loop at all times.
